Reading Success Sounds Like...

We signed our child up for this program with Maggie because our child was behind in her progression in reading. We struggled for years trying to help our child. After being referred to Maggie from a friend we got our child signed up, and I am being 100% honest, it was the best decision we ever made for our child. Maggie was welcoming and made our child feel confident that they could conquer any obstacle in their future of reading. Our child looked forward to going back every week to work with Maggie, it was probably the highlight of the week for our kiddo. 😎 The program was easy to learn and follow for not only our child but for us too. The work that was sent home to help our child progress was easy to follow and insightful. It helped us understand how we could further our child's needs in becoming a confident and fluent reader. After our child finished the program, with a sad face of not being able to see Maggie, we now have a happy reader. Our kiddo is reading more at home and is also able to understand and follow along at school. We highly recommend the program that Maggie offers and 1000% recommend working with Maggie 😃 You won't regret it!

November 7, 2020: Since October 2019, Maggie has been tutoring my son Paxton who has had difficulty learning to read since kindergarten. Despite our best efforts to do workbooks and read more at home, throughout grade 1 and when Paxton started grade 2, he was more than a year behind the level he should have been at. After discussions with his grade 2 teacher, I reached out to Maggie who had a space available to begin to tutor Paxton. Maggie was able to immediately identify how to get Paxton reading and came up with a plan to help him achieve his goal of learning how to read. After only a short time, the hour Paxton spends with Maggie each week combined with the effort he put into the work she sends home, February 2020, Paxton was reading at his grade level and was beginning to move on to prepare for grade 3. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, we had to take a break and we didn’t know for how long. Maggie provided me with all the materials Paxon had worked on to get to this point so that we could continue to review and reinforce all of the skills skills he gained. We started going back to see Maggie each week in September and I am happy to say that Paxton was able hold onto the skills she taught him and continues to build on them every day. Paxton gets excited to go see Maggie each week and is worried that he will not get to continue when he no longer needs a tutor. The work they do together has helped him build confidence and become the amazing, smart little boy that he is. Maggie is just as determined for Paxton to learn to read as he is, we are so lucky to have her.

My son Jayden is 6 years old. He is in grade 1 at a French immersion school. About 6 months ago I started to work on Jayden's reading with him, in english, and I noticed that he was unable to read without a lot of prompting and help from me. Through the weeks of myself and my husband trying to help Jayden to learn to read we all became VERY frustrated and dreaded when we would attempt to read together. I did not want Jayden to remember my frustrations with him as he got older so I reached out to Maggie to help me. I sat in on the first session and was AMAZED at Maggie's calm and patient demenour. At that time I was told Jayden was at a JK reading level. Since that very first lesson I am in awe of how far Jayden has come. He has went from being unable to sound out words to being able to sound out MOST words that he sees in a day, because of using the techniques that Maggie taught him. He can now recognize sight words in English because of Maggie's teachings. I can NOT recommend Maggie enough. Within 1 short week Jayden's reading improved MORE than the 6 months that I was working with him. Maggie is patient and so understanding that Jayden felt completely comfortable with her and really enjoys going for his lessons weekly. You will not regret trusting Maggie to help your son or daughter learn how to read!

Maggie did a fantastic job helping my son learn to read! She customized each lesson to his specific needs and reading level. She has a special gift for engaging him and encouraging him to work and try harder. He came home excited to read to us. He is now reading at a higher level than his grade level, and is also acing his spelling test! I highly recommend Reading Express and am looking forward to her working with my youngest in the future.
